Lawrence the Lorikeet
In the summer I visited Longleat Safari Park and had an absolutely brilliant time – I cannot recommend it highly enough. Â One of my many highlights was feeding the rainbow lorikeets nectar pots. Â We walked into the enclosure, pots in hand and were swept away with delight when the beautiful lorikeets chose to fly onto our hands and drink up the nectar. Â They are stunning and also very sociable with mesmerising and quirky antics. Â SOme were super friendly and took turns to jump onto our hands. Â One lorikeet watched on from a branch (perhaps he had already had his fill) and seemed to be watching over us all, making sure every bird had a turn – and here he is in print! Â I have called him Lawrence and he is very wise and very fair I think. Â Inspired by their rainbow colours and the liquid nectar I have created a collection of three lorikeets on a dribble paintings.
This is a Giclée print on Hahnemüle German Etching paper which has a wonderful rich texture and heavyweight feel and allows the print to look very close to the original.
