Flaming Skies

“Flaming Skies” is of the view from Topsham quayside out over the estuary and is from a photo taken by Alice Carr – thank you so much Alice for sharing this with me.  The sky was so powerful, as if flames were rolling out along the sunset that I felt compelled to paint it.  The wonderful colours of the sunset sit in beautiful contrast to the silhouetted boat.  As I painted this, I wanted to share the strong feeling of calm and space I felt from the view with the vast expanse of still water and striking sunset.

The painting was created in multiple layers and includes many flicks of paint and scratches with a palette knife to convey the energy.

It is an acrylic on canvas painting and is varnished and ready to hang.

It is 100 x 75cm.
