Summer is Delicious
Citrus fruit make me think of summer and I adore how the roses seem to be at their very best. One of my favourite summer activities when the kids were little was to go rose sniffing in the front garden at Powderham castle – it has so many varieties in all colours, shapes and scents and it is a feast for the senses. Really worth a visit. This painting is an ode to summer and the bounty of gorgeous flowers and ripe fruits it brings. I adore apricots and there are two perfectly ripe ones in the foreground, and unlike lemons, we can only get these in the summer, making them a very special and appreciated fruit.
It is about 65 x 90cm, acrylic on canvas.
